With an electric mixer, make frosting out of shortning, powdered sugar, a little milk, and vanilla & almond flavoring. Frost your cake/cupcakes so the fondant will stick.
For the fondant, add enough powdered sugar to the previous frosting until it is the consistancy that works best for you. Also add a little more vanilla & almond flavoring so the powdered sugar isn't overpowering in the taste. Then roll it out and cut the shapes you want.
*For an even easier fondant, just purchase a can of premade frosting and add powdered sugar to it until it reaches desired consistancy.
